before my appointment with someone from the Language and Learning Centre. I did a vast amount of reading on postcolonial art the past few days and it's beginning to make me wonder whether my lecturer had deliberately given me this topic (Postcolonialism) to do because of my nationality.. I don't particularly mind, and I can relate to some of the things I've read but I think I might like to point out that Brunei was never a colony? Well... yes, I am most certain that it was not a colony, but a protectorate of the British.
But putting those misunderstandings aside, I find it rather amusing to read about the opinions of those who are not of the 'Other'. Because I am the 'Other'... so it's like getting an opinion from another opinion of what might be your own background.
Makes me think?
If I had made an opinion, would it be because I knew more about the culture they were talking about? Or would it be because I was being defensive, as there are some things we believe are too sacred to be touched; or that because there were certain histories I wish to deny?
Am I looking into a mirror, that is facing another mirror?
hey jann! thanks for dropping by at my blog =D aku jarang update huhuhu... just got your message. so yea...
